THE REV. CHRISTOPHER V. PYLES, RECTOR

The Rev. Christopher Pyles came to Grace & St. Peter’s in June 2017, and serves as rector of the parish.  Previously, he was rector of St. John’s, Bellefonte, in the Diocese of Central Pennsylvania, where he was on the Standing Committee, the Commission on Ministry, and the Bishop Search Committee.  He chaired the Congregational Development Commission and the Clergy Compensation Committee.  He was an area dean, and mentored those seeking ordination as well as newly ordained clergy.  Prior to St. John’s, he was Associate Rector at St. Luke’s, Germantown, in Philadelphia, and before that was curate at the Washington Memorial Chapel in Valley Forge.  He was ordained both deacon and priest in 2005 at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine in New York City.  He is a graduate of General Seminary and Fordham University, and previously worked in institutional advancement and in publishing.  He lives in the rectory adjacent to the church.

THE REV. ROBERT SPEER, ASSISTING PRIEST

The Rev. Robert Speer has served as priest associate at Grace & St. Peter’s since 1998.  After seminary at Seabury-Western, Father Speer was an army chaplain for 20 years prior to serving in interim or assisting capacities at several parishes in the Diocese of Maryland, including nearby Old Saint Paul’s.  In 2020 he retired from the Department of Religion and Philosophy at Towson State University.  His avocations include yoga and bagpiping.
